Ben Shahn
Come join us for a discussion of The Jewish Museum exhibit, On Nonconformity, that reappraised the work of Ben Shahn (1898–1969, born in Russia), a pioneering figure in American social realism. Shahn used naturalistic styles to critique the social conditions of ordinary people. He was a working-class immigrant from Eastern Europe who became one of the most prominent and compelling progressive artists in the U.S. from the time of the New Deal (1933–39) to the height of the Vietnam War (1954–75).
Zoom information will be in the confirmation and reminder emails.
